I always love creating baby cards and gifts. There is just something about celebrating a new life full of hope and promise. So, I was very excited as soon as I saw this month's releases at Papertrey Ink. The new Inside & Out: Baby set (along with Baby Button Bits) is perfect for all those cute baby gifts and cards we love to create! This month, the Papertrey Ink design team is doing a group post showing just some of the wonderful possibilities with this set (available January 15th).
A couple years ago, I created some baby cards where I created my own custom baby carriages using circle nestability dies. I decided to revisit that concept this month and take one step further and create a 3D baby carriage party favor. (Can you believe I sketched this out years ago, but never took the time to create it until now?!)
First, how about a close up look at my card? I used the new Background Basics: Petal Power (available January 15th) stamp set to stamp my sweet blush cardstocks using scarlet jewel ink. I rounded the corners of my card and stamped patterned paper. Then, I inked the edges of my patterned paper with fresh snow ink to soften them up and stitched it to my card. I cut a piece of rustic white cardstock for my sentiment, rounded the edges, stitched it to my scarlet jewel mat, stamped my sentiment, and tied a piece of scarlet jewel satin ribbon around one side before adhering it to my card. I used the same concept I mentioned about to create the baby carriage on the front of the card using circles cut with a nestability die. I added a little white to the center of the flowers using a sharpie paint pen and inked the edges with fresh snow ink. The silver brads and spacers work perfectly for the wheels and a little lace finishes it off nicely.
I lined the inside of front cover with a piece of sweet blush cardstock that I had stitched around the edge.
Then, I added another piece of stamped, inked, and stitched patterned paper to the inside where my sentiment would be. I stamped the sentiment on rustic white cardstock (leaving room to sign our names) and stitched it to a piece of scarlet jewel cardstock before adhering it with foam adhesive. I just love that sentiment!
I created the base for my baby carriage party favor from scarlet jewel cardstock and added my stamped flower patterned paper that was created in the same way as the card (stamped, inked edges, stitching). One of my favorite parts of the carriage is the lace around the opening. It just seemed to really finish it off when I added it as a final touch.
A closer look at the sentiment stamped on the handle. The "congratulations" is from the Inside & Out: Baby stamp set.
And a closer look at the sentiment on the tag (also from Inside & Out: Baby). A little stitching, scarlet jewel satin ribbon, and a sweet blush button help finish it off.
I have a pdf download so you can create your own baby carriage party favor. Download Baby carriage template (Please bear with me as this is my first template and first time trying to share a pdf on my blog. Hopefully, everything will work okay!)
Hop around to all the other design team ladies' blogs to see what amazing things they've created with the Inside & Out: Baby set: Nichole, Becky, Betsy, Dawn, Debbie, Geny, Heather, Kim, Lisa, Melissa, and Michelle.
