Every month, there is a new challenge over on the Sundays with Crissy blog.  The challenge this month is K.I.S.S. --Keep It Simple Stamper.  I used Crissy’s adorable new Back to School Bart image and her Meadow Background image for my card.  (Both are digital images available from Whimsy Stamps.) 

I used a piece of patterned paper from October Afternoon's Schoolhouse paper pad and some baker's twine from my etsy shop.  I embossed a piece of white cardstock using a cuttlebug folder.  I used a sentiment from the School Time stamp set I illustrated for Papertrey Ink.

I printed the image on copic x-press it cardstock and colored it with copic markers.  I used these marker colors: Y17, YR20, YR21, YR23, E31, E33, B32, B34, B37, B39, YG97, YG17, V25, R24, 63, YG67, colorless blender.  I sprayed the sky using my air compressor and B000 and B01 markers.  I used Bev's cloud template.

thank you teacher

Quick post today as I am busy getting some things ready to go camping.  It will be our first camping trip with the baby so it should prove interesting.  I just hope it is not as hot as they are forecasting.

Anyway, I paired Heather's new Library Card stamp set and the Inside & Out: Thank You stamp set with my School Time and School Time Additions stamp sets to create this fun little teacher thank you card.  I stamped the background on my kraft cardstock and sponged some dark chocolate ink around the edges.  Then, I created the little pocket for the library card using the library pocket die and sponged around the edges after folding it.  I added some simply chartreuse and pure poppy cardstock layers to add some color to the card and then assembled all the pieces.

School Time Day Five

Welcome to Day 5 of the countdown to the release of my new stamp sets, School Time and School Time Additions, at Papertrey Ink.  Both sets will be available July 15th at midnight.

When I was playing with the School Time stamp set, I had to create a card where the focus was on some of the images in the set that fit within the circle border stamp.  There are three images in the set (the book, the apple, and the school bus) and four sentiments (Thanks, Teacher, Back to School, Field Trip, and First Day of School) that fit in the center of the circle border stamp.  They work great as focal images for cards or as quick embellishments for layouts.  I used the "I Love School" background stamp to create the patterned paper.  Then, I added some ripe avocado and pure poppy cardstock layers and some stitching to finish off my card.

Thank you so much to everyone for all your comments and emails during the countdown!  It made my morning each day when I sat down and read your messages in my email box.   I can't wait to see what everyone creates with my new sets!

All Booked Up

It's time for this month's group post by the Papertrey Ink design team.  This month, we are highlighting a fun new set designed by Nichole called All Booked Up.  I love to read and this set is perfect to celebrate a love of reading.  I don't know that I could possibly pick a favorite book.  My favorite time spent reading is the time every night when I lay down with my kids before bed and we read for a half hour.  We all love to read and have a huge library of books.  I love spending that time just before bed just curled up together reading.

For our group post, Nichole had each of us create a card and bookmark gift set for all those book lovers in our lives.  I decided to create some custom patterned papers using some of the background stamps in School Time (the apple background, the alphabet background, and the lined background) and Polka Dot Basics II.  I stamped the apples in pure poppy ink on berry sorbet cardstock, the alphabet in ripe avocado ink on simply chartreuse cardstock, the lined background in fresh snow ink on true black cardstock, and the polka dot background in hawaiian shores ink on aqua mist cardstock.  I love this fun color combo paired with kraft cardstock!

I adhered my stamped patterned papers to white and pure poppy cardstock and added some stitching.  As the focal point of my card, I stamped the frame image in pure poppy ink on kraft cardstock that I had cut with the new Mat Stack 3 die.   I added my sentiment and stamped the reading image in white cardstock.  I added a couple buttons and adhered the image using foam adhesive.

I used the new bookmark die to cut my kraft book mark.  Then, I used more of my stamped patterned papers and stitched them to white and pure poppy cardstocks before adhering them to my bookmark.  Next, I stamped my sentiment on white cardstock, punched it out using a circle punch and adhered it to a pure poppy circle and a kraft scalloped circle.  I tied a little pure poppy stitched ribbon to the top of my bookmark to finish it off.  Wouldn't this be a fun little gift for the book lover in your life?!

School Time Day Three

I absolutely loved the fun color combo when I was creating my card and bookmark for the group post so I had to use a similar one (minus the kraft cardstock) on another card highlighting my new School Time stamp set (available July 15th at Papertrey Ink).  I used more of my apple patterned paper stamped on berry sorbet cardstock and some hawaiian shores polka dots stamped on aqua mist cardstock.  This time, I used the simply chartreuse stamped cardstock as my card base.  I added some white and true black layers and some stitching.  Then, I finished off my card with a simply chartreuse circle stamped with a black circle border and sentiment and matted with a white cardstock circle and a true black cardstock scalloped circle.

School Time Day Two

Welcome to Day Two of my sneak peeks at my new School Time and School Time Additions stamp sets.  There were a couple questions yesterday.  First, I added the details of what stamps are included in each set to yesterday's post.  (I got interrupted last night by a fussy little one. *wink*)  The frame I used on yesterday's card is one of the stamps included in School Time.  I will have more about it in a couple days.  Today, I have another card to share featuring images from the School Time stamp set.

I used another background stamp from School Time, the apple pattern, to create my apple patterned paper using pure poppy ink and vintage cream cardstock.  After stamping my pattern, I stitched my paper to a ripe avocado layer and pure poppy layer.  I added some copper brads in the corners and adhered it to my kraft card base.

I created another patterned paper using the little pencil image that is included in the set.  I added some more stitching before adhering the layer to my card.  I stamped the circle border, apple image, and sentiment on vintage cream cardstock and punched it out using a 1 1/2 inch circle punch.   I die cut my ripe avocado cardstock using the Mat Stack 1 die and stamped the frame from Round & Round (this year'a anniversary set).  I added a couple copper brads and adhered the mat and sentiment using foam adhesive.

School Time Day One

Hi Everyone!  Welcome to Day One of the Papertrey Ink Countdown.  I have two new sets, School Time and School Time Additions, releasing this month on the 15th.  Things have been a little busy around here with a new little one and preparing my sneak peeks so if I leave something out, just ask.  When I was creating these sets, I wanted them to be versatile so they would work well for scrapbooking and card making so there are many images within the sets that are perfect for both uses.

Stamp Set Details:

School Time consists of 15 stamps (4 image stamps, 4 sentiment stamps, 4 background stamps, one journaling card stamp, one rectangle border stamp, and one circle border stamp) and will retail for $24.

School Time Additions consists of 40 stamps (21 number stamps, 18 word stamps, and a colon) and will retail for $15.

Okay, how about a first look at my new School Time stamp set.

It's hard to pick my favorite stamp in the set, but this alphabet background stamp has got to be one of my favorites.  I love how easy it is to create an alphabet background.  I stamped my background directly on my kraft card base and sponged the edges with brown ink.  Then, I stamped the frame on vintage cream cardstock and cut it out.  I rounded the corners and sponged the edges with brown ink.  I added my sentiment and apple image.   Then, I added my pure poppy and simply chartreuse layers.  I stitched around the edge and adhered it to my card with foam adhesive.  Last I added the cardstock circles and buttons to the bottom of my card.

Alphabet Background Stamp Tutorial

I thought I would do a little tutorial about how to use the alphabet background stamp because I designed it differently than most of the background stamps available through Papertrey Ink.  This is what the stamped image looks like.  See the dip in the letters about the G, J, and L. 

To create the stamped alphabet background, stamp the image once.  Then, ink the stamp up again and align it so the D and H fit in the dip above the G, J, and L.

Continue stamping your background up your paper by aligning the bottom letters in the dips of the previously stamped image.

Once you have stamped up your paper, it will create a diagonal image.  Go back and stamp the image again by aligning the A beside the X and Z and vice versa for the oppposite side.  When you are through, you will have a wonderful stamped alphabet background like the one on my card.
