Tonight, the Papertrey Ink Design Team is sharing our projects created with the new Calendar Basics stamp set (which is available on Sept 15). Nichole asked each of us to create a calendar and card to help demonstrate how versatile the Calendar Basics stamp set is and how it can be used for more than just calendars. (You can click on the photo above for an enlarged version or there are close up photos below.)
The Calendar Basics stamp set coordinates with the new pre-printed calendar products and the new Calendar Page Die that Papertrey Ink will be offering on the 15th. I used the new die along with the 2.5" pre-printed calendar to demonstrate how easy it is to create beautiful calendars that fit in the Calendar Cases that Papertrey Ink sells. The die cut cardstock fits perfectly in the calendar case when you create a vertical calendar. I chose to create a horizontal calendar, however, and love how the calendar sits on the lip of the calendar case when used this way. I created a paper pieced daffodil for my calendar using Year of Flowers: Daffodils and patterned papers from the Pretty Pastels collection. I stamped the flower on different patterned papers, shaded them with copic markers, and cut them out. Then, I adhered them to my calendar page. I stamped the month and flourish from Calendar Basics on the mini 2.5" calendar page and stamped the sentiment from YOF: Dafodils. Then, I added a strip of scalloped patterned paper and distressed the edges with distress inks.
I also used Calendar Basics to create this birthday card. I started by stamping the flower and leaves from Year of Flowers: Roses on some of the patterned papers from the Pretty Pastels collection. Then, I shaded them with copic markers and cut them out. I cut my patterned papers and stamped the star and corner images from Calendar Basics on the text print patterned paper. I love the different look you can give your patterned papers just by altering them with some stamping. Next, I distressed the edges of my flower, leaves, and patterned papers with distress inks. I stitched my patterned papers to some sweet blush cardstock and distressed the edges of the cardstock. I assembled my card and added the sentiment from Calendar Basics.
Check out the other designers' blogs for lots more inspiration using Calendar Basics: Nichole, Betsy, Dawn, Debbie, Erin, Heather, Kim, Lisa, Maile, Melissa, and Michelle.
Have a great day!
Niki

Love this idea and want to use it for some holiday gifts. Are the calendar cases the same size as a regular CD case? Can you give me the dimensions of the calendar page and the calendar case you used? Thanks for such a great idea!

Your calendar page is beautiful, but I cannot tell you how much I love Love LOVE the birthday card! All the patterns and colors work together in a fantastic mix. It reminds me of the quilts from my grandmother which I can assure you is a high compliment as she was an artist with fabric! Lovely, lovely card!
