Greetings

I can't thank you all enough for your comments, support, and encouragement over the last couple days (years really if I think back on my whole blogging journey)!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I have been amazingly blessed in the opportunities I've been given in the stamping world and I am forever grateful. Big hugs!!

Today, I have a card to share using the adorable Charlotte with mailbox image from Whiff of Joy Stamps.  I paired the image with some patterned papers from the Sultry line from Basic Grey and colored the image with copic markers in coordinating colors.

With so many things going on professionally and personally, I have stepped down from the Whiff of Joy design team.  I want to thank Katharina for everything!  She is such an amazing lady!  Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your adorable images, Katharina!  I do have another card to share using a Whiff of Joy image, but I need to get the photos edited for the tutorial that goes along with it.

The recent Whiff of Joy release consists of stamps that are perfect for Valentine's Day, but they also work well for many other themes throughout the year.  I used the Charlotte on Carpet image on my card.  Although my colors are the traditional valentine colors, the card works for any occasion that you might need a thank you card.

I colored the image with copic markers.  I created the glittery heart embellishments by stamping some red cardstock using a small heart punch.  Then, I covered each heart with red glitter and once it was dry, I stitched my buttons in place and adhered the hearts using foam adhesive.


Here are the copic marker colors used to color the image.  Is including the copic marker colors I used helpful?  I know in the past I have read on some message boards and occasionally in my comments that some people really like that.  Usually, I have a terrible time remembering to do it, but I set the tea tin on my desk and it seems to help me remember.

Whiff of Joy is releasing some new stamps by Alison Acton tomorrow.  I think this is one of my favorite images from the new release, Happy Mail Charlotte.  I just love that you can put any sentiment you want on the envelope.  I paired the image with some Basic Grey Bittersweet pattern paper, white, and scarlet jewel cardstocks.  I colored the image with copic markers that coordinate with my patterned papers.

mini copic marker tutorial

Did everyone have a good Christmas?  Ours was really nice.  We stayed home and just spent time together as a family.  It was very laid back.  Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, too!

Holiday Tags

I absolutely love the cute little gnomes from the Christmas release at Whiff of Joy Stamps.  I used four of them to create some cute little tags for my packages.  I created a very simple design so they are easy to recreate.  I stamped the images on white cardstock and colored them with copic markers.  I used "to" and "from" stamps from Papertrey Ink's 2008 Holiday Tag Collection stamp set.  Then, I cut the corners to create a tag shape and added a pure poppy layer to the tags.  I added a scalloped border to the bottom of the tags using some scissors and finished them off with some pure poppy stitched ribbon, some twine, and buttons.

holiday cheer

 
I can't believe how quickly Christmas is sneaking up on me this year!  I haven't even started my yearly calendar yet!  Yikes!  As soon as the PTI release is over, I'm going to have to concentrate all my time and efforts on getting that done so it's ready in time for Christmas.  Luckily, I still have a few cards left to share that I created last month.  I pulled out this adorable Henry Mouse sitting on Candy Cane image from Whiff of Joy and paired it with some Basic Grey patterned paper (Fruitcake line).  I used the slot punch tool from Making Memories to create the slots to slide the ribbon through and added some ribbon, lace, buttons, and lots of stitching.

'tis the season to be jolly

Hey Everyone!  Lots of Whiff of Joy news today and a little giveaway, so be sure to read the entire post.  I'm back to share a card using one of the adorable Santas from Whiff of Joy.  I just love these Santas!  And I happen to have an extra to giveaway!

 
I used the Santa Reading List stamp for my card and colored the image with copic markers.  I added lots of antique linen and tea dye distress inks to the edges of the image and then, distress the edges with an edge distressor.  I stitched around the image and added some spacers and silver brads to the corners.  I added stitching and distressing to all of my patterned papers and the sentiment, too.  Then, I finished off my card with a poinsettia, bead cap, and pearl brad.

joy & wonder fill the season

Can you believe it is almost time for Thanksgiving?!  This year is just zipping by!  I did all the grocery shopping for Thanksgiving today and will get the turkey in the brine tomorrow morning.  I cook a turkey every year that I soak in a smoke brine.  Best turkey ever!  Not that I'm bragging, but doing the brine makes it so tender and juicy.  My mom started smoking the turkey when I was in high school and I have been doing ours the same way for probably at least 10 years now.  Any other turkey just seems dried out to us now.  Anyway, bet you're here to see a card not listen about my turkey, huh? *wink*

Last week, I pulled out the Willow with Santa's Stocking image and the Rustic Snowflakes patterned paper that Heather designed last month for Papertrey Ink.  I just love these colors together!  I added some dark chocolate cardstock to help all the colors pop and colored my image with coordinating copic markers.  I added lots of stitching, a punched border, some dark chocolate satin ribbon, an ocean tides button, and a snowflake charm (Katharina has these in the store).

So, any big plans for Thanksgiving if you're in the US?  We usually stay home and just hang out as a family.  We watch movies, play games, eat snacks (we always make up veggie trays), and just hang out.  It's always lots of fun!

One of the things I love about Whiff of Joy Stamps is that they have a style for everyone.  There are the whimsical stamps with Henry Mouse and the other animals drawn by Alison Acton.  There are the new folk artsy gnomes drawn by Norma Fickel.  Then, there are the timeless illustrations by Elizabeth Bell.  Her illustrations are so classic and remind me of vintage illustrations. 

Today, I used one of Elizabeth's new images called Oakley with Christmas Bauble.  I paired the image with some Merry Days of Christmas patterned paper by My Mind's Eye that I got from Bev at Precious Scraps.  I stamped the leaf image on the green patterned paper with tea dye distress ink and stamped the sentiment on one of the tags in the paper kit.  Lots of stitching and distress ink on the edges of the papers, including the image panel.  I finished it off with a bead cap and brad.

I had the chance last week to sit down and play with a bunch of the new release stamps from Whiff of Joy.  I just love these cute little gnomes.  This is the Uru and Bird stamp.  I paired the image with from Fruitcake patterned paper by Basic Grey and some enchanted evening from Papertrey Ink.  I colored the image with copic markers in colors that coordinate with the patterned paper and added lots of stitching.
