I mentioned a while back that I was excited to start a Project Life album this year. Well, I got way behind with the kit being sold out most of January and then, life got in the way and I couldn't start my album when my kit did arrive. I finally had the chance to start my album recently and I'm playing catch up. I hoping to be caught up soon so that I'm working on the current week. Anyway, I thought I would share my album here on my blog. I'm using many of the kit products, but I'm also adding my own touches. I know this won't replace my layouts (it's making me really want to scrapbook more, though!), but I love that it will keep me current with memories of every week.
So, tonight, I'm sharing my title page. I love the way Ali Edwards scrapbooks. My scrapbooks are pretty much all about the photos and the journaling. Sure, I add some patterned paper and some embellishments here and there, but the photos and story are definitely the stars of my layouts. Ali has a similar style to mine and I love looking at her layouts. Anyway, all that to say my title page has quite a few elements inspired by the title page Ali did for her 2011 Project Life album. You can see Ali's title page here on her blog.
I added photos of my kiddos take on Christmas Eve and a family photo taken a couple weeks ago (with the self timer on my camera). I printed the photos in color and in black and white. My kids voted for the colored versions so that's what went in the album. The text patterned paper is from October Afternoon. I've always loved this paper and when I saw Ali use it, I decided to add it to my album, too.
This was one of the papers in the Project Life kit (I am using the Turquoise edition). I added the year with American Crafts Thickers (again inspired by Ali). I also added some stamping across the top. I used Technique Tuesday's Everyday Life stamp set.
I created a little custom piece for one of the pockets. I cut some cream cardstock and added some stamping using a couple Technique Tuesday stamp sets. The double circle frame is from the The Family Circle stamp set and the sentiment is from the Favorite Memories stamp set. I added some twine from my etsy shop and a little felt heart. I'm using a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper (1/4") to cut all my corners so they match the pieces from the kit.
Okay, I am off to finish up dinner and then I will finish editing photos so I can share Week 1 tomorrow. Have a great night!
Niki
